What is NePoPo®?

NePoPo® is a negative-positive-positive dog training system, where the dog learns to do, on cue, with Heart & Soul.

Have you ever noticed a dog pick up his food bowl, all happy - eyes bright, tail wagging, ears up - and bring it to you to fill… but when you try to get him to pick up something in a training session, he won’t touch the item?

Or a dog sniffing while on a walk - you can’t pull him away from the smells! Ah ha! You think, we will do scent work! But when you do, he acts like he doesn’t have a nose?



 

FIRST WE ASK, "WHY DOES A DOG DO?"

Why is it when it’s his own invention, he does it with passion, heart, and soul... but when you want him to do the exact same thing, he thinks it’s absolute torture?

Why does a dog do?

To better his own situation. Not because you are his owner, and he loves you and wants to please you. He does because he sees an advantage in the behavior.

How does a dog BETTER HIS OWN SITUATION?

  1. Positive reinforcement (PoPo),
  2. Negative reinforcement (NePo),
  3. NePoPo®, taking the best of Positive Reinforcement & Negative Reinforcement.
 

We use TWO SYSTEMS in NEPOPO®:

  1. Operant conditioning. This starts with a spontaneous behavior. If we like the behavior, we encourage it with PoPo, NePo, and NePoPo®. If we don’t like the behavior, we can ignore it or discourage.
  2. Classical Conditioning, to put the behaviors on command.

We manipulate the training and environment so the dog thinks it is his own invention. He loves it and does it with Heart & Soul.

When does the course start and finish?
This is a completely self-paced online course - you decide when you start and when you finish. It is set up to "drip" content to you the first week. This gives you time to really absorb the knowledge before continuing on.
How long do I have access to the course?
